If you haven't created a backup you definitely should: any iTunes update or process can potentially go wrong. Creating an iTunes backup or even simply syncing your iOS with iTunes can save you from losing your photos, contacts and other important data.

How to restore from an iTunes backup

  • Open iTunes with your iPhone connected to your PC
  • Right-click on your iPhone under Devices in iTunes
  • Click "Restore from Backup"
  • Choose the backup you want to restore from the drop-down and click "Restore"

If you get a new iPhone you just need to connect it to iTunes and click “Restore from Backup”.
