Within hours of the release, iOS 9 devices surpassed iOS 7 devices by a good percentage. According to Mixpanel, iOS 9 devices take 10% of the Apple devices already.
That means the stronger the iOS adoption, the more issues in respect to lost of iPhone data or restoring iOS data. So, let me guide you through some of the most encountered type of issues and how to find a fix for them.
Apple updates iCloud with restoring lost data functionality
So, if you've ever accidentally deleted a document you saved to iCloud, Apple has a new way for restoring it. The Time Machine of iOS is here. :) Reminders, Calendar info, contacts and iCloud Drive files can now be restored if you ever accidentally delete them.
Log in to icloud.com > Settings > Advanced (bottom of the Settings Page) > Restore Reminders/ Restore Calendars/ Restore Contacts/ Restore Files. Same as for the good old iOS 8 deleted photos and videos, Apple gives you 30 days remaining before the final deletion of those files. Note that after that time, items will be permanently deleted.
All is cool, all is bright, but remember:
- sharing info will be removed. You will need to share calendars and reminders again or just ask their owners to share them.
- scheduled events will be cancelled and recreated, and invitations reissued. Yes, the event invitees will see a cancellation, then a new invitation.
- an archive of your pre-restore data is made in case of need
- restoring data will restore and replace data on all your devices with the same iCloud account
