Recover iOS App data such as Instagram, WhatsApp, Skype, Safari and more

We are often asked by our customers what’s the best way to view and extract files from specific app like WhatsApp, Instagram, Kik, Skype or Safari. The answer is simple, use the iPhone Backup Extractor and you will get access to all the application data stored in your iTunes or iCloud backup. In this blog post we will show you how to extract and view files from your iPhone apps.

Recover Instagram Skype files

If you need to recover scores for your favorite games or to extract specific files and databases from iPhone, iPad or iPod apps, the iPhone Backup Extractor does all the hard work for you and extracts the data you need in just a few minutes.

In order to recover application data from an iDevice, you must have an iTunes or iCloud backup that contains all your applications' data. If you already have one, go ahead and download and install the iPhone Backup Extractor for Windows or Mac.

Open the iPhone Backup Extractor and load your iTunes backup into the application. Then select the App view tab.

On the left side, you will see a list of all the applications that have been backed up in your iTunes or iCloud backup. Selectively browse through them and choose the one from which you want to extract files and click on the Extract link corresponding to files, images, PLists or databases.

All files are extracted in the format found in the iOS applications and therefore, sometimes these files are not readable to the regular user. They are often presented in .PList files formats and you can view them by using the PList viewer feature from the iPhone Backup Extractor.

How to extract images and files from WhatsApp

If you are one of the one billion active users on WhatsApp, you might want to know how to extract data from the WhatsApp application. Simply select the application from the left side and then choose to extract your images, all files, PList files or all databases.

To extract all images stored in your WhatsApp application, click on Extract all images. You will be asked where do you want to save your photos, choose the path, and the iPhone Backup Extractor will recover all the photos from WhatsApp.

How to extract Safari history and searches from an iOS device

With the iPhone Backup Extractor, you can also access Apple's built in applications. If you want to recover your Safari history or check the recent searches you have done on Google, here's how to do this and more.

Select the Safari application and extract all the files.

You might notice that some of the extracted files have a .plist extension. You can view/edit these files by going to the Files menu of the iPhone Backup Extractor and by clicking on View/Edit PList. Choose the file you want to view and click Open.

To view your Safari browsing history, you have to open the file History.plist.

To browse your latest searches made on Safari, open the file RecentSearches.plist.
